Nora's Palace
Tucked away on Amelia Street in Belfast, Nora’s Palace is the kind of place you stumble upon once and keep coming back to. From the moment you spot the warm, inviting signage at 8-10 Amelia St, you get the sense that something authentic and comforting is waiting inside - and you'd be absolutely right.
This Middle Eastern gem balances homestyle flavors with a surprisingly modern twist. Whether you’re stopping in solo for a quick bite or sitting down for a late-night feast, Nora’s Palace caters to all kinds of diners. It's especially popular during lunch and dinner rushes, and there’s good reason: the food is vibrant, the portions are generous, and the vibe is effortlessly relaxed. The restaurant is also wheelchair-accessible, with thoughtful seating arrangements that suit both casual meals and larger group gatherings.
The menu reads like a Middle Eastern food lover’s dream. Lamb Mandi, for example, is a standout - slow-cooked, richly spiced lamb layered over fragrant rice, served in a portion that could easily satisfy two. It's hearty, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Then there’s the Mixed Shawarma Platter, a medley of juicy chicken and lamb, served with fluffy rice and warm pitta bread. It’s the kind of dish that makes silence fall over a table because everyone’s too busy devouring every bite.
If you’re into handheld bites, the Grilled Chicken Wrap or Lamb Shawarma Wrap offer that smoky, spiced flavor profile wrapped up in a soft, warm pitta. Craving comfort food? Try the Homemade Burger and Fries - a surprise hit that combines the familiarity of a Western burger with subtle Middle Eastern seasoning, delivering something fresh but familiar.
Smaller plates like Cheese Samosas and Shish Kebab are perfect for sharing or for when you just want a little something on the side. And if you’re the kind of diner who skips to dessert first (no judgment), Creamy Kunafa and Rice Pudding are a must. That golden, crispy exterior of the Kunafa paired with a luscious cheese filling and syrup drizzle is an indulgent end (or beginning!) to your meal.
For drinks, there’s Moroccan Green Tea with Mint, freshly brewed and fragrant, or the ever-refreshing Lemon and Mint Juice that’s squeezed on the spot. It’s got that perfect zing - cooling, slightly sweet, and totally uplifting. If you’re into dairy-based beverages, the Ayran (a tangy yogurt drink) balances out the spices in many of the mains beautifully. And for those who fancy something stronger, Nora’s Palace also serves wine and beer, with happy-hour options available.
Health-conscious eaters haven’t been left behind either. There’s a salad bar, healthy small plates, and organic options peppered throughout the menu. Everything is halal-certified, and they even offer all-you-can-eat deals if you arrive with an appetite the size of a mountain.
The atmosphere hits that sweet spot between casual and cozy. Outdoor seating gives you the chance to enjoy a shawarma under the Belfast sky, while inside, soft lighting and comfortable seating create a chill spot to unwind. There's also a strong tea and dessert game - seriously, their great tea selection pairs perfectly with late-night conversations or solo moments of calm.
What really sets Nora’s Palace apart, though, is the sheer versatility. It’s just as fitting for a quick lunch as it is for a relaxed dinner. It’s ideal for those dining solo and also for those bringing along a hungry crew. The variety of offerings - from Chicken Mandi Rice to Shawarma with Fries, from Hummus and Chips to Kanafeh - ensures there’s always something new to try.
Nora’s Palace doesn’t just serve food - it offers an experience that blends traditional Middle Eastern hospitality with modern Belfast convenience. Whether you're dropping in for a quick bite or lingering over a pot of tea, this is a place that truly welcomes you in.

Star Review for Nora Restaurant I recently visited Nora Restaurant and had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious we had a mixed platter with perfectly cooked lamb and chicken shawarma, fresh salad, and generous portions of crispy, flavourful chips. I’m usually not a big fan of chips, but honestly, these were so tasty they completely won me over I ended up finishing the whole plate! Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. What made the experience even better was the staff. They were incredibly respectful, kind, and welcoming. You can really feel the warm atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and lovely service. I’ll definitely be coming back again!
Such a great place to eat & dine! Definitely has an authentic vibe in there! also know you will be cared for in a good manner w/ a positive attitude! got the meal that catered to three people! maybe even four! :) definitely would come again!
Absolutely amazing food and fantastic service! Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the best part? Everything is made fresh to order! We were thrilled to indulge in such a delightful experience. The staff kept us in the loop about a short wait, but honestly, we were more than happy to wait—after all, good food takes time! Nothing satisfies those late-night cravings after a night out quite like this!
A perfect spot for a late night snack or to get a takeaway. They grill the meat on a charcoal grill to perfection. So much better than many of the fast food places.
Great food with impressive customer service. The guys at the counter were friendly every time you visit. The food is top notch. You hardly find such types of cuisines in Belfast. I can vouch on them.
